Researchers tracked people on both the Low-Fat Diet and the Mediterranean and found that the Mediterranean diet is better for your health.

They tracked people on each diet for five years.

Findings indicate the Mediterranean, especially one with a lot of extra-virgin olive oil, is better for preventing heart problems.

That group's risk of having a heart attack or stroke, or dying of heart disease, was 30 percent lower than the group that at a low-fat diet.
