Greenville Inmate’s Unearned Freedom At An End

A Greenville man is back in jail after more than eight months of inadvertent freedom.

The Delta Democrat Times reports (http://bit.ly/NWpLiV ) that William Mays was being held at the Washington County jail on drug charges before he was mistakenly released last June.

Assistant chief sheriff’s deputy Percy Miles says Mays was arrested this past week at a Greenville hotel.

Miles say Mays was armed and now faces a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon along with the pending drug charges.

Authorities say Mays is charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell; possession of marijuana with intent to sell; felony possession of marijuana; felony possession of crack cocaine; as well as four counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
