WJTV – Southern Miss is going to the NIT for the second straight season after being left out as an at-large team in the NCAA Tournament.

The Golden Eagles were defeated in the seminal round of the Conference USA Tournament Friday night by Louisiana Tech. La. Tech went on to lose to Tulsa in the Championship game. Tulsa was the only team from C-USA to make the Big Dance.

Up next for USM is the NIT. The Golden Eagles are a three-seed in their region and will host 6-seed Toledo in the first round Wednesday at 7:30 PM. That game will be played in Hattiesburg.
