Two-Headed Calf Goes to Alcorn’s Veterinary Program

NATCHEZ, Miss. (AP) – A two-headed calf that died shortly after being born on an Adams County cattle farm has been donated to the veterinary program at Alcorn State University.

The Natchez Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/1g8DVsg ) the unidentified cattle producer had kept the calf in a freezer since its death earlier this month.

Alcorn veterinarian Cassandra Vaughn says the calf will be mounted and displayed at the Lorman, Miss., campus.

She says the skull will be preserved and displayed separately because it will be of interest.

Vaughn says she has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1988 and has seen two-headed specimens before, but this is the first two-headed calf she has had the chance to observe.
