Jackson is among the top five worst cities for allergy sufferers, according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. They based their list on pollen levels, use of allergy medications, and the number of board certified allergists in the area.
Mississippi’s capital city fell four spots from last year to number five in 2014 rankings. Jackson topped last year’s reankings. This year, Louisville, Ky., topped the list, followed by Memphis, Baton Rouge, and Oklahoma City.
Louisville switched spots with Jackson reportedly because of higher-than-average pollen counts, high use of allergy medications and too few allergy specialists, according to the foundation.
Experts say the blend of winter and spring weather may make allergies worse.
