YAZOO COUNTY, Miss. – Yazoo County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a convicted sex offender for allegedly sexually assaulting a 7-year-old child.

Investigator Irvine said 37-year-old Jerry Poarch is charged with molestation of a child and enticement of a child.

Deputies responded to a call on April 25 about a child who was sexually assaulted by an adult.

Officials said the girl was playing outside near her yard when a man in a car approached her and enticed her to walk across the street. The child laid her bike down and went across the street as the suspect turned into a driveway near a church.

The man allegedly unzipped his pants, pulled her pants down and began to touch her with his hand. He then got into his car and left the area, investigators said..

The child told her parents when she went home; she was able to provide them with a description that help police arrest Poarch.

Family members spotted the car that resembled the one that the child described. He was asked to come back to the scene and the child was able to identify him.

Poarch’s bond was set at $200,000.

He was already registered as a sex offender and was convicted in 2008 in Madison County for gratification of lust.
