JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Education held a meeting Thursday morning to set a standard score for the 3rd grade reading test.
The state board of education voted and passed the recommended score of 926. A panel of 24 people set the recommended score earlier this week.
According to this standard, 85 percent of 3rd graders would pass and 15 percent would fail the reading test. That’s nearly 5,700 student who not be able to go to the 4th grade without passing it. However, the students will get the chance retest.
The first retest will beheld May 18-22. The second chance to retest is from June 29 through August 7.
