JACKSON, Miss. – Dozens of Jackson Police officers along with some Hinds County deputies met at the corner of Bailey Avenue and Northside Drive Tuesday morning to set up a checkpoint.
They’re also spread out in the neighborhood, conducting check points and making their presence known.
This area has seen many crimes in the last few months, the most recent on Sunday when a police officer was shot in the knee.
Police Chief Lee Vance said the area is not safe for officers or the public.
The mobile command center will be set up in that area and staffed with officers for the next two to three days.
