JACKSON, MS – A man has been arrested and charged with capital murder in connection to an armed robbery that resulted in a shooting.
On May 16, 2015, officers responded to a call of an armed robbery and shooting in the Eastover area. When they arrived, they found Edwin D. Robinson dead on the scene from multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body.
During the investigation, it was discovered that an unidentified man was loading items into his vehicle at his residence on Ridgewood Rd when he was approached by two unidentified black male subjects, later identified as Robinson and Andre Kennedy, who ordered him into his house at gunpoint. They then demanded money and took several guns from the victim’s gun safe.
The suspects forced the victim to drive them to a nearby bank to make withdrawals from the ATM. They then made the victim drive to a nearby location and made to exit the vehicle. When he exited the vehicle, the victim pulled a handgun the driver’s door and fired at the suspects. Robinson was struck multiple times and killed, and Kennedy ran and then fled in a tan SUV.
Robbery/Homicide Detectives identified Andre Kennedy as the second suspect later in the investigation. He was charged with capital murder, kidnapping, and armed robbery of an individual.
