JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – State corrections officials say visitation is resuming this weekend at South Mississippi Correctional Institution in Leakesville.
A lockdown initiated several weeks ago was lifted Thursday night, and the Greene County prison returned to normal operation Friday.
Friday’s statement said the lockdown resulted after a discovery of contraband resulted in an investigation.
Six people have been arrested at SMCI on contraband-related charges since April.
