RAYMOND, Miss. – The investigation continues after two deputies were injured at the Raymond jail Thursday night. The incident was possibly occurred because of a severe breach of policy, officials said.
According to Othor Cain of the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department, it appears that there was a serious policy breach by several detention officers at the jail.
He also said that the investigation at this point appears to show that the breach was deliberate.
Between 9:15 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. Thursday, investigators responded to a situation in the housing unit in pod A. An altercation occurred between an inmate and two officers. The officers received minor injuries and were taken to a hospital. They have been released.
Authorities said immediate disciplinary action will be taken for any violations of policy and procedures. They said the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to policy violations.
