Jackson Firefighters Respond to Apartment Fire

The Jackson Fire Department responded to an apartment fire on Old Canton Road.

It happened just before 5:00 Monday morning at Northpointe Village Apartments. Emergency crews blocked off all lanes on Old Canton Road while they worked to contain the fire.

According to Division Fire Chief Cleotha Sanders, the fire started in a unit where a Jackson Police Officer lives. We’re told the officer’s smoke detector alerted him fire, and he was able to get out safely.

Sanders said there were no other injuries reported.

Three to four units are a complete loss, and eight families have been displaced. We’re told the Red Cross is assisting them.

Investigators are now trying to find the cause of the fire.
