JACKSON, Miss. – Crowds gather at the Hinds County Courthouse as county clerk begins issuing out same-sex marriage licenses.
The Campaign for Southern Equality Twitter page shows photos of couples inside the courthouse receiving marriage licences from Hinds County Clerk Barbara Dunn.
Barbra Dunn tells WJTV that clerks across the state received a letter from Attorney General Jim Hood that said they should go ahead and issued out the licenses. The letter went on to say that if they did not comply with the Supreme Court’s ruling, they could risk being sued.
