Police: One man in custody after fatal shooting in Marion County; bond set at one million dollars

MARION COUNTY, MS – On man is dead after a shooting on Jones Road.

According to Marion County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Jamie Singley, on July 4, 2015, officers responded to a call on the 300 block of Jones Road.

When they arrived, police found Courtney Brister, 29, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. He was transported to Marion General Hospital and then to Forrest General Hospital where he later died.

Ka’Shondrick Johnson, 25, turned himself in along with a 40 caliber handgun when investigators arrived on the scene.

Police say another gun was found laying near the victim, but is has not been determined who the gun belongs to. Johnson was taken into custody and his bond was set at $1 million. His initial court appearance was on July 6, 2015.
