PHILADELPHIA, Miss. (AP) – A Philadelphia man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the stabbing death of a Georgia man in 2014.
The Neshoba Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/1HqenQp ) 34-year-old Demetric L. Gray was sentenced Friday for manslaughter in the death of 41-year-old Zuave “Zay” Trice of Lithonia, Georgia.
Circuit Judge Marcus Gordon says the sentence will run consecutively with a life sentence Gray was given Wednesday for the attempted murder of Ethel Gray, his estranged wife.
Both crimes were committed on the same night in the Gray home in 2014.
Gray had argued he was acting in self-defense when he stabbed Trice nine times because he believed the man was reaching for a weapon in his pants on the floor.
Prosecutors say Gray attacked Ethel Gray after finding her with Trice.
