JACKSON, MS – After the killings in Chattanooga, military recruiting centers across the country are either moving or changing security.
In Mississippi, 10 storefront National Guard recruiting centers will be relocating. Today, one man stood guard at the Armed Forces Career Center in Ridgeland.
David Oden spent about four hours outside armed with a gun. He is a navy veteran who told us that he wanted to make sure everyone inside the recruitment center was safe.
He stood behind a brick column so as not to frighten anyone who would walk up to the facility, but he told us that the petty officer inside the center thanked him for volunteering his time.
Oden says he’s not looking for any thanks, he’s just doing what he believes needs to be done.
