JACKSON, MS – National Guard Public Information Officer Lt. Col. Christian Patterson says recruiters formerly assigned to several closing storefront offices across Mississippi have been reassigned.
The Mississippi National Guard recently closed 10 statewide storefront military recruiting offices in the wake of the recent deadly Chattanooga shootings at military facilities. These offices are in Flowood, Greenville, Southaven, Olive Branch, Columbus, Tupelo, D’Iberville, Gulfport and Hattiesburg.
Lt. Col. Patterson says recruiters who worked at the now closed locations are in more secure facilities. Gov. Phil Bryant recently signed an executive order authorizing the arming of select Mississippi National Guard personnel at specific facilities.
Addresses of the new locations and recruiter information is posted on the doors the closed offices. An official release says “the new offices are located within area readiness centers and bases.”
