Miss. National Guard recruiters returning to 10 sites

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — The Mississippi National Guard says its recruiters are returning to 10 storefront recruiting centers early next week.

The recruiters were temporarily moved after Gov. Phil Bryant issued an executive order Monday saying the National Guard could increase security at its facilities. The order was in response to fatal shootings at military centers in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Storefront recruiting centers for the Army National Guard are in Flowood, Greenville, Southaven, Olive Branch, Columbus, Tupelo, Hattiesburg, D’Iberville and Gulfport. A separate Air National Guard center is in Hattiesburg.

Guard spokesman Lt. Col. Christian Patterson says recruiting centers were moved temporarily to nearby military facilities, such as National Guard armories or Camp Shelby. Patterson says Thursday that the centers are scheduled to reopen at storefront sites next Monday.
