One person arrested in fatal shooting at Jackson inn; police looking for others

JACKSON, MS – One person has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting.

According to Officer Green of JPD, on July 25, 2015, police responded to a shooting call at the American Star Inn at 2655 I-55 South. They discovered that a Hispanic male had been shot once in the parking lot.

The victim, identified by the Hinds County Coroner as 34-year-old Juan Carlos, was transported to UMMC where he died.

During the investigation, it was found that one unidentified black male wearing a black/red Chicago Bulls jersey and black jeans approached the victim. The suspect was in a gold or brown Ford Taurus with damage to the passenger side view mirror. The vehicle was occupied by two unidentified black females and a white female known as “Tiffany”, who was identified as the driver.

On July 26, 2015, police found the Ford Taurus and arrested Tiffany Brister. She has been charged with Accessory After the Fact of Capital Murder.

Police have identified one of the unknown black females that were in the Ford as Crystal Chancellor. She is wanted for questioning.

An official release says “the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.”
