Memphis officer shot during traffic stop

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis Police officer was conducting a traffic stop near Cottonwood Road and Perkins Road when he was shot by a person in the vehicle, police said.

Police received a call at about 9:15 p.m. Saturday that additional officers were needed in the area.

The officer who was shot was transported to Regional Medical Center and is in critical condition, police said.

Police and fire crews are on the scene.

The suspect is still at large, police said.
