JPS goes back to school with the “Million Father March”

JACKSON, MS – It’s the first day of school for Jackson Public Schools and lots of father’s were out walking their kids to school this morning.

It’s a part of a nationwide initiative called the “Million Father March”

It invites father’s to be more proactive in education. School officials say the “Million Father March” allows father’s to lead by example in showing kids the importance of going to school.

This is the second year of the million father march at JPS schools.

“Sometimes when you don’t have an actual father role in your life it can affect how you act, or how you think. It can affect your life,” says Alexandria Williams, a Power APAC student.

“Kids, not just my kids, can see that we’re supportive of them. We want to let them to know that we’re behind them and we’re pulling for them on the first day,” says Power APAC father, Larry Stamps.
