BRANDON, MS – Police say one woman has admitted to killing her boyfriend during a domestic dispute.
According to Sheriff Bryan Bailey, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call at 506 Mason Court on August 30, 2015 around 4:30pm from a woman saying that she and her boyfriend got into an altercation that lead to her shooting and killing him.
The deceased man has been identified as Joshua G. Robinson, 34. He was from Madison, MS.
He arrived at the victim’s home where a verbal altercation lead to physical violence. During that time, Robinson and the woman struggled over a handgun when it discharged and Robinson was fatally injured.
Police say they have received domestic violence complaints on Robinson in the past. They also say he had charges of simple assault – domestic violence and malicious mischief pending against him in the Rankin County Justice Court.
Sheriff Bailey says no arrest have been made. Based on the findings of the investigation, the woman is not facing charges at this time. She was released from the Sheriff’s Office.
District Attorney Michael Guest will be presenting the case to a Rankin County Grand Jury.
