Bond denied for 2nd suspect arrested in 81-year-old’s death

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — A judge denied bond Wednesday morning to the second suspect who was arrested in connection to a Pearl man’s death.

21-year-old Walter Lee Young was wanted for capital murder and auto theft. His bond was denied for the capital murder charge and a $20,000 bond was set for the auto theft charge.

He turned himself in Tuesday with the help of Victor Mason, the Democratic nominee running for Hinds County Sheriff. Mason told us that Young’s mom asked him to help her get Young to surrender.

24-year-old Loren Blackwell was denied bond Tuesday afternoon after she appeared in court.

Jackson Police said 81-year-old Lee Kendrick was found dead last week in an abandoned apartment unit on Keele Street. His family reported him missing last Monday in Pearl.
