Mississippi coroner dispels Daily Mail spider bite theory in Delta State/Gautier shootings

JACKSON, MS (WJTV) – The Washington County Coroner has dispelled a report by Daily Mail Online that Delta State/Gautier shooter Shannon Lamb may have been driven to commit the crimes because of a spider bite that caused his face to swell.

The coroner says that Lamb’s body has been processed and no bites of any kind or swollen face was found.

Lamb reportedly shot and killed Dr. Ethan Schmidt on Delta State University’s campus on Monday. Lamb later committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. He was also wanted in connection to the fatal Gauiter, MS shooting of his girlfriend, Amy Prentiss.

The Bolivar County Coroner says Schmidt was shot 3 times in the head. His body has also been processed at the crime lab and is now being kept at a funeral home before being transferred to Schmidt’s home state of Kansas.
