A Warren County man, convicted for the DUI death of a woman, was sentenced for the crime Thursday.
Dakota West was sentenced to 25 years in prison for DUI aggravated felony causing death.
According to the Warren County District Attorney, 10 years of that sentence was suspended, so he’ll only serve 15. While in prison, we’re told, West will have to complete drug and alcohol treatment.
This stems from the 2014 death of Krystal Foster, 26.
Her mother, Yolanda Bolls, says she’s now fighting for tougher DUI laws in Mississippi.
“I would like to see the first time offenders go to jail, no bail, from there to court and from there to prison. Then, you learn,” Bolls said.
West will also have 5 years post-release supervision, and he’ll have to pay a $5,000 fine.
