If you haven’t seen it, the Johnson Elementary School students in Jefferson Davis county are putting their math skills to the test in a game called “Fact Dash.”
At 2:15 every afternoon, the halls of J.E. Johnson Elementary are bustling with kids excited about learning. Kindergarteners are learning sight words and first through sixth graders are focusing on math.
School officials started using this technique about five weeks ago and teachers say they’ve already noticed a change
“It helps you a lot when you move on to multiplication with two digits because you have to know your multiplication facts to know your two digit multiplication facts and it really helps me a lot,” says student, Manyla Carrell.
Of course there are prizes – students get small prizes and eventually the big winners get a party.
