Hancock County sheriff’s K-9 missing after crash

PICAYUNE, Miss. (AP) – Officials are asking for help to find a Hancock County sheriff’s K-9 who was thrown from a deputy’s vehicle when it crashed Tuesday afternoon.

Pearl River County Sheriff David Allison tells The Sun Herald (http://bit.ly/1KNQng5) the crash occurred a few miles northwest of Picayune.

The deputy, whom authorities have not yet identified, was taken to a hospital in Slidell, Louisiana, with non-life threatening injuries.

Allison said the deputy and his bloodhound, Radar, were headed to Pearl River County to help search for a missing teenager.

Authorities say the dog was in a pen in the bed of the pickup, and the force of the collision rolled the truck and threw the pen out.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office at (601) 798-5528.
