Rankin County, Miss. (WJTV) – A man accused of shooting his mother-in-law in Rankin County before leading authorities on a chase to Simpson County is out of the hospital and in jail.
Murder suspect Robert Busby, 28, was released from the hospital Wednesday.
Busby is accused of shooting 44-year-old Cassaundra Ann Irwin at a home on Carol Avenue in Florence Monday.
Witnesses said Busby came out of the home shooting that night. We’re told shots were fired at a woman neighbors said is his wife. There were three child outside as well.
As authorities were arriving to the scene, we’re told Busby took off.
According to authorities, Busby led them on a chase into Simpson County. When authorities caught up with him, we’re told he fired shots at the officers. Those officers returned fire.
No authorities were injured, but Busby was hit. He was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Busby is facing charges for murder, four counts of Attempted Aggravated Assault on the wife and children, two counts of Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Felony Fleeing, Domestic Violence and Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Busby appeared before a judge Wednesday after he was released from the hospital.
Judge Kent McDaniel denied bond for him on all charges.
