Pair arrested after shoplifting video goes viral

Two arrested after shoplifting video goes viral.

D’IBERVILLE,, Miss. (WLOX) – Two people have been arrested in connection to a shoplifting incident at Dang’s Liquor and Wine. D’Iberville Deputy Chief Clay Jones said police have arrested Barbara Fielder and Jacob Posey.

Fielder, 38, has been charged with second offense shoplifting, while 24-year-old Posey, who also had two outstanding warrants for failure to pay fines, was charged with shoplifting.

Surveillance video from the alleged shoplifting went viral after the store’s co-owner, Brittany Nguyen, posted the footage to Facebook.

“It was hilarious to us. So, we decided just to post on Facebook for our friends just to see,” said Nguyen in an interview with WLOX.

The video shows a woman stuffing a liquor bottle into her purse and a man putting another bottle in the front of his pants. Then, the female suspect does a little dance right in front of the camera.

Nguyen said the video has been viewed tens of thousands of times.

Capt. Terry Hines said social media is a great tool for police while investigating crimes such as this one.

Fielder and Posey were transported to the Harrison county Adult Detention Center, held under a $1,000 cash bond. According to police, a hold was placed on both suspects by the Mississippi Department of corrections for probation violations.
