Toddler struck in JSU Homecoming Parade

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A young girl is in “good condition” after being struck by a float in the Jackson State University’s Homecoming Parade.

The incident happened at the roundabout at John R. Lynch and Prentiss Streets about an hour after the parade started according to L.A. Warren, a Media Relations Specialist with Jackson State University.

A young girl darted into the street to pick up candy from the ground. When the young girl turned away from picking up candy, she fell and her legs were run over by a float.

The young girl was taken to Batson Hospital. She is reported to have no serious injuries and no surgery is required.
