JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — One of the suspects accused in the death of an 81-year-old Pearl man appeared in court Monday morning.
A judge set Walter Lee Young’s bond at $500,000. The has been turned over to the grand jury.
He’s charged with capital murder.
Young was the suspect who turned himself into Sheriff-Elect Victor Mason. At the time of Young’s arrest, Mason was the Democratic nominee for the position.
Mason told us back in September that Young’s mom called him, asking for help.
Young was was wanted by police in the murder investigation of Lee Kendrick. Mason said he acted as a private citizen and met the 21-year-old and his mom, and then took him to Jackson Police.
Kendrick was reported missing by his family in Pearl on August 31. His body was found a few days later at an abandoned apartment on Keele Street in Jackson.
Also charged in this case is Loren Blackwell. Her bond was set a few weeks ago at a hearing.
