CANTON, Miss. (WJTV) — The attorney for the former Canton Superintendent says a public hearing will be held next month for her client.
Ike Haynes was let go from his position last week.
His attorney, Lisa Ross, said the hearing is set for December 17 and December 18.
The attorney for the school board, John Christopher, released the statement about Haynes’ termination.
“The Canton Public School District Board of Trustees terminated Superintendent Ike Haynes. This is a personnel matter, therefore, the board is not at liberty to go into detail. However, after reviewing recent test scores, the Trustees decided that in order to advance the district it was necessary to seek a new superintendent. Assistant Superintendent Cassandra Williams has been named as the Interim Superintendent.”
Ross said she doesn’t have information on why her client was fired at this time. She said that information has not been disclosed to them.
She said she’s aware of the test scores allegation and that they have evidence to refute those claims.
