Teen appears in court for several charges including trying to run over a Jackson officer

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Bond has been set for a man who is charged with armed carjacking, armed robbery of an individual, and aggravated assault of an officer.

Suava Blaire, 18, made an appearance in court and was given $100, 000 bond.

JPD states crimes involving Blaire date back to October 2nd.

Authorities say a Blaire and another person approached an individual at New Stage Theater with a gun before stealing a white Toyota Camry.

Later on October 9th, authorities were alerted of individual being robbed and the suspect fleeing in a vehicle matching the above description.

Authorities later noticed the vehicle in another location and approached the suspect entering the vehicle. The suspect then positioned it toward officers as they approached the vehicle an attempted to run an officer over.

Officers shot at the vehicle as it was leaving the scene and were unable to locate it after.

The suspect later went to River Oaks Hospital for medical treatment for a gunshot wound. Authorities were called and took Blaire into custody.

Blaire was identified by a victim through a photo line-up.

An  officer was injured during the incident and was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and was later released.
