JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — A man arrested for capital murder back in 2010 was sentenced in court Tuesday.
A judge sentenced Li-Patrick Atkinson 20 years behind bars and five years of probation.
Atkinson was arrested five years ago in connection to the death of Robert Hill.
The 23-year-old’s body was found in a ditch off Billy Fields Road in Hinds County on August 2, 2010. Sheriff’s Deputies said Hill was shot several times and they believe his body was dumped there.
Hill’s car was found a few days later in a wooded area not far from where his body was found.
Atkinson’s brother, James Atkinson was also charged with capital murder in connection with this crime. Christopher Smith was charged with accessory after the fact.
