JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – One Jackson family that experienced a great loss is asking people not to drink and drive.
They want to make sure everyone knows the cost of making a bad decision.
Linda Cook can tell you a day doesn’t pass without thinking about her grandson Joshua Hardin.
“He was my baby. All 6 foot 4 inches, 250 pounds of him,” Cook said.
Hardin was killed last year in March when police say he and his friends were hit by a suspected drunk driver.
Friday, December 11, would have been his 23rd birthday.
“And life will never be the same without him. My joy is gone. I miss him every day,” Cook said.
But his memory lives on as birthday balloons and flowers lay in front of a memorial, just a couple feet from the intersection where the crash happened.
“He affected a lot of people, he touched more people in his short life than I have in 65 years,” Cook said.
“This man made an impact in this world with the short time he had and there is no telling what he could have done,” Cook said.
A life gone so soon, but his name will be etched here to serve as a reminder.
“This has got to stop. We are killing each other for no reason because somebody made a stupid decision to get behind the wheel and drink and drive,” Cook said.
Police say they have charged Tiffanie Martin with Aggravated DUI and Aggravated DUI Death.
Martin is expected to be in court in March 2016.
