JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – There will be some happy boys and girls in the Jackson Metro come Christmas morning all thanks to the celebrity bike giveaway.
The NFL Players Association and the “Reading on Wheels Program” hosted its second annual celebrity bike give away.
Up to 500 bikes and helmets were given away to kids in the Jackson Metro area.
Hundreds lined up at Smith-Wills Stadium to receive their bikes.
“Out here to pick up a bike for my grandson for making all “A’s” at Isabel Elementary school,” Debra Jennings, celebrity bike giveaway recipient, said.
“I said one day I wanted to be able to do this and this is what happen, we’re giving bikes away. Like I said a lot of kids don’t get what they’re getting to do. I never had a bike until I was about 15, 16 years old,” Vernon Perry, of the NFL Players Association, said.
Local NFL stars were at the stadium this morning handing out bikes.
Earlier this year the NFL Players Association helped feed the homeless and donated footballs to Blaire E. Batson Children’s Hospital.
