JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – An active shooter training instructional was held today in Jackson for city employees.
JPD officers discussed active shooters and precautionary incidents that Jackson police are putting into place involving active shooters.
Officers were showing employees how to be prepared and to make a plan if an active shooter is present.
“We’re teaching them how to remain calm. How to act and how to do things that they take for granted; such as locking doors, checking doorways checking hallways. Making sure that people aren’t straggled out walking around the building that don’t know anything. Like why they are there or who they are, just trying to enlighten them,” Commander Steve McDonald, with the Jackson Police Department, said.
Commander McDonald also told us they are also trying to heighten employee’s sense of security.
