Dog dies in Rankin County house fire

RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) — A home in Rankin County near Braxton caught on fire Wednesday morning and killed a family’s dog.

The house is located on St. John Road.

We’re told that three people and a dog were inside the home when the fire broke out. An elderly couple and their daughter managed to escape. The daughter told authorities they were all asleep and she woke up when she smelled smoke.

The house fire was fully involved when crews arrived on the scene.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
