Another barge hits Old Highway 80 bridge in Vicksburg

VICKSBURG, Miss. (WJTV) — Another barge has hit a bridge in Vicksburg.

Herman Smith of the Vicksburg Bridge Commission said the barge hit the Old Highway 80 bridge Wednesday morning.

According to Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace no one was hurt when the barge hit the bridge.

WJTV was told the barge was carrying some hazardous materials. None of those sank to the bottom of the river.

However, some dry, non-hazardous materials did sink.

For now, though, all barge traffic along the Mississippi River in Vicksburg has stopped.
