Rankin County Drug Task Force recovers more than $500,000 at traffic stop

RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The Rankin County Sheriffs Drug Interdiction Task Force recovered more than$500, 000 during a traffic stop on Wednesday.

A 2016 Chevy Malibu was travelling  on  Interstate 20, westbound near Pelahatchie when it was pulled over for careless driving.

An officer noted the smell of marijuana when he approached the vehicle.

The driver, Henry Anthony  Burrows III, 32, admitted to smoking  and was removed from the vehicle, along with two passengers, Christina Joanna Sweet, 33, and Joseph Wayne Green Jr, 29.

The officer searched the vehicle and found scales and a jar emitting the smell of marijuana.

As the search continued, he found a box and a suitcase totaling over $500,000.

All three were transported to the Rankin County Jail.

Burrows is charged with money laundering.

Sweet and Green are both charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
