JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — A man has died at a Jackson hospital and now a death investigation is underway.
Witnesses said the man was walking near McDowell Road and Gunda Street and was struck by a car.
According to Chief Lee Vance, an officer arrived on the scene and was trying to get the man out of traffic. The man was acting erratically.
The man struggled with the officer and went back into the street. An animal control officer happened to drive by and tried to help the officer stop the man, Vance said. When they were able to get him to the curb, the man passed out.
Vance said the officer tried to perform CPR and called an ambulance.
The man died at the hospital. They are still trying to determine what caused his death.
No other details have been released.
