Hunting season closed in South Delta until the end of the month

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Hunting season in the South Delta is closed until the end of the month.

Authorities tell us the Steel Bayou Landside gauge went over 90 feet, triggering the closure of hunting season in the south Delta.

Deer season is closed on Lake George, Twin Oaks, and Sunflower Wildlife Management Areas. The US Forest Service has also closed the entire Delta National Forest to the public, including those hunting waterfowl and other wildlife.

Hunting season will be closed until January 31.
