Mom killed in crash on I-220 South

Soutbound lanes are blocked

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Jackson Police went to the scene of a deadly accident on I-220 South.

220All southbound lanes were blocked near the Medgar Evers Boulevard exit, according to the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

The coroner identified the victim as 48-year-old Samantha Murray. Police said Murray lost control of her car and died on the scene.

A 19-year-old, 12-year-old and a 4-year-old were also in the car. We’re told that the teenager was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. The other two children were in the back seat. They were checked out on the scene and are fine.

There were  also two other crashes on the northbound side that caused congestion. The first crash was near the Highway 49 exit and the second one was near the Industrial Drive exit. The northbound lanes are blocked in this area, but traffic was able to pass on the shoulder.

No other details have been released.
