JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant declared a State of Emergency for Lauderdale County.
Severe storms moved through the area Tuesday leaving behind damage.
Bryant said the State of Emergency is an administrative tool that allows local governments to request state assistance to assist with response and recovery associated with the storm recovery.
Damage assessments show that 31 homes were destroyed or sustained major damage; there was also 48 homes with minor damage.
“I want to assure the citizens of Lauderdale County and other areas of the state hit by severe weather that the state will assist the local governments in any way we can,” Gov. Bryant said. “We are blessed that no one was injured as the storms moved through the state.”
