JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — A bill to give churches the option to arm members or provide security gets the green light after being passed by a committee.
It will now head to the House floor.
The bill was proposed by District 77 Representative Andy Gipson.
It’s set to allow churches to arm some members or hire armed security. It would also give churches the same protection as home owners under the Castle Doctrine.
The bill was proposed after the deadly shootings of 9 people at a church in Charleston, South Carolina.
The bill should be presented in the house next week.
