HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) — The Hinds County Sheriff’s Department wants to make you aware of a phone scam that’s going around.
The Sheriff’s Department said they have received several calls from residents about the scam. The scammers say they are calling from the Warrants Division of sheriff’s department. They tell the resident that there is a warrant out for their arrest.
The sheriff’s department said the scammers say that you will have to load about $750 to a prepaid card.

- Never blindly follow directions from someone on the phone that requests personal information or money
- Please take the time to verify the story and its authenticity.
- If you are suspicious do not send money, hang up the phone, and report the incident to the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office at 601.974.2900.
