JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Jackson Police are working to prevent crime at apartment complexes.
Crime prevention officers said about 60 percent of people in Jackson live in apartment complexes and crime happens in those communities like anywhere else.
Police said most often, its crimes of opportunity, such as auto burglary. When someone leaves their belongings in a car, it puts you at risk to have your car broken into and items stolen. Jackson Police talked about stopping that, while court officials talked to apartment managers about evictions and answered legal questions.
“So in meetings like this we address all issues whether it is property crimes or crimes against persons as a relates to individuals being harmed because that does happen,” JPD Officer Trena Yarber.
