Search for escaped Warren County inmate accused of murder

Warren County, Miss. (WJTV) – Authorities in Warren County are searching for a inmate that escaped the jail.

Sheriff Martin Pace tells us Rafael McCloud, 33, escaped Wednesday morning around 5:30 a.m. He is considered armed and dangerous.

We’re told McCloud took a jailer hostage with a shank, and he forced the jailer to give him his pants and jacket. Sheriff Pace says McCloud also took the jailer’s radio and keys. McCloud escaped out of a side door and is still on the run.

While investigating, authorities did recover the radio and the keys on the jail’s grounds.

McCloud was last seen wearing the jailer’s green pants and a jail jacket.

Sheriff Pace tells us McCloud was being held on a murder charge for the 2015 death of a 69-year-old woman.

Warren County authorities are working with Vicksburg Police and K9 units to find McCloud. We’re told local schools have been notified about McCloud’s escape.
