UPDATE: Suspect accused of shooting JPD officer turns himself in

UPDATE 3/11 2:33 p.m.: Jackson Police confirm that Rashad Caston turned himself in at Jackson Police headquarters Friday afternoon.


JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Jackson Police have identified a suspect who they say is connected to the shooting where an officer was injured on Wednesday.

Police are looking for Rashad Caston.

Officer Abe Gines was shot responding to a robbery call at Edgewood Terrace Apartments on Edgewood Terrace Drive. They said Caston is also allegedly responsible for breaking into an apartment there. Caston allegedly fired shots at Officer Gines and a bullet grazed him.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
