JPD hosts Citizens’ Police Academy

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Class is now in session for people wanting to learn more about the Jackson Police Department.

Here’s a look at the Jackson Police Department Citizens’ Police Academy.

It was packed house tonight at the police training academy.

People are getting a chance to learn how police officers actually do their job.

WJTV spoke with JPD about this opportunity for the community to get involved.

“It gives the citizens a chance to interact with the police and the city of Jackson.   Hopefully, this class enlightens other people throughout the city to participate in the class if they want to come,” said Marilynn Paige of the Jackson Police Department’s Community Relations team.

One of the goals for this class is for Jackson residents to help brainstorm ways to make the city safer.

The academy ends Monday, March 21.
